Nella giurisprudenza americana un imprevedibile causa di forza maggiore viene definita un “act of God”. Su questo fatto si basa un film che non ho avuto la fortuna di vedere, ma dal titolo notevole:
Questa la trama: Billy Connolly plays Steve Myers, a lawyer who became a fisherman from frustration. When his one piece of property, his boat, is struck by lightning and destroyed he is denied insurance money because it was ‘an act of God’. He re-registers as a lawyer and sues the insurance company and the church under the geise of God, defending himself.
Notevolmente ho trovato anche gente che ha veramente fatto causa a Dio: un carcerato rumeno ed un senatore del nebraska.
Il senatore vuol dimostrare che il sistema legale è stupido perchè non può fermare una causa inutile contro Dio, e propone delle leggi blocca-cause-frivole.
Il carcerato è pazzo e basta.
I rumeni sembra abbiano bloccato la causa perchè Dio non si è manifestato in tribunale.
In Nebraska invece Dio si è presentato, in quanto onnipresente.
